Open-source project “Mein Bildungsraum” published on Open CoDE
Since August, developers and other technically minded people have access to detailed information and the source code of our “Mein Bildungsraum” open-source development on the Open CoDE platform. By sharing this information, we aim to create transparency, promote collaboration and build an open community that contributes to the project’s continuous improvement through feedback and further development.
With the beta version of the digital networking infrastructure, a functioning version in the form of a minimal viable product (MVP) was made available to the first test users in October 2023. This test phase of “Mein Bildungsraum” was successfully concluded with the evaluation of results in June 2024. On 1 July 2024, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) handed over the basic version of the networking infrastructure to the Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation (SPRIND) and assigned further development and expansion to the agency. The minimal viable product as an interim version was released under an MIT license in mid-August 2024.
In order to appeal to a larger target group and permit anyone interested to actively contribute, the publicly financed project was conceived as open source software from the outset. This is intended to make “Mein Bildungsraum” more transparent and to facilitate access. Making the source code centrally available enables close cooperation with a community, promotes the exchange of knowledge and supports reuse of the software in other projects.
