Berlin, Jena, Mannheim: test version of „Mein Bildungsraum“ presented to an interested audience

The First National Conference for Further Education ("Erste Nationale Weiterbildungskonferenz"), the Digital Summit of the Federal Government ("Digital-Gipfel der Bundesregierung") and the launch of leando.de: visitors to these events  in November 2023 were able to experience "Mein Bildungsraum" and test some of the functionalities of the beta test version. We will use their feedback to further develop the networking infrastructure in the coming months.

From Berlin via Jena to Mannheim with “Mein Bildungsraum” in our luggage

At all three events, the team of “Mein Bildungsraum” informed visitors about the digital networking infrastructure for education. They got access to “Mein Bildungsraum” with tablets to test the login function via single sign-on, the learning path finder and the Wallet app of “Mein Bildungsraum”. It was also demonstrated how users can request a digital copy of a certificate from one educational institution and share it with another in an application process.

Dominik Theis, Consultant of the project group “Nationaler Digitaler Bildungsraum” (engl. National Digtal Education Space) at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), summarised:

Whether pupils, students, job seekers, teachers, parents or pensioners: it was great to see how we were able to work out the advantages of "My Education Space" for each target group, which can simplify their personal educational journey.

More highlights

At the “Nationale Weiterbildungskonferenz”, which took place from 14 to 15 November in Berlin, Dr. Renata Suter, a consultant in the project group at the BMBF, was also able to present the project in the “Digital Continuing Education” forum. The “mein NOW” project, the central online entry portal for continuing vocational training, was also presented at this forum. The planned networking of the two projects met with interest among the forum participants and led to a lively discussion. Further questions, for example on accessibility, were addressed and added value for users - such as secure access via Single Sing-On, better orientation when finding suitable training programmes and greater reach for training providers - was presented. Above all, Suter emphasised the vision of a nationwide educational space that connects learners, teachers and educational offerings.

In addition, the project team presented “Mein Bildungsraum” at the Market of Digital Opportunities as part of the 16th Digital Summit of the Federal Government on 20 and 21 November in Jena. The focus was on initial functionalities, which were presented with a live demo at the BMBF stand and in a workshop. Under the motto "Creating diversity, making diversity accessible", the participants discussed, among other things, how data can be securely stored and exchanged via the repository.

And finally, we were delighted to come to Mannheim for the “go-live event” of the BMBF-funded portal “Leando, the new nationwide information, networking and learning world for training and examination staff. In the medium term, “Leando” is to be linked to “Mein Bildungsraum” as a portal of the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB). This should also enable registered users of “Leando” to manage certificates that they have acquired at other institutions in the education area, for example, and thus facilitate an overview of their entire educational pathway.

What's next?

Since October 2023, test users have been able to put the functionalities of “Mein Bildungsraum” to the test using various scenarios. Test users initially include people familiar with the project, network partners, funded projects from the education sector and other stakeholders. Over the course of beta testing, we will gradually expand the circle of test users. This was also the aim of these event participations. The feedback from the testers is important in order to continuously develop “Mein Bildungsraum” in line with the needs of the users.

From spring 2024, after the public launch, all interested parties will be able to try out the functions of “Mein Bildungsraum”.
